Uttarakhand, Haryana, Mumbai, Railways, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh. Mumbai is a name that speaks for itself and Tamil Nadu has assembled a potent team without breaking the bank.
How Does the Ranji Trophy Elite Knockout Stage Work?
People don’t realize the format gives a big credit to a good group finish. Jeetexch has plotted the following matches. The group winners and runners up play a predetermined set of crossovers rather than a straight draw.
- Group A winner is pitted against Group C Runner-Up
- Group B will play the Group D runner up
- The group winners will play the runner up of Group A
- Group D winner will play the Group B runner-up in the quarterfinal

The Jeetexch Ranji Trophy Plate 2026-27 is a smaller scale competition, with six teams competing against each other once. The stakes are as big as they get in the Elite bracket, though, despite the smaller field.
The Plate final winner is promoted to the Elite Division for 2027-28, with all the group matches having increasing significance. Once a team has a poor start, their Elite dreams are put on hold before the first of January.
